Wuxi Kalider Industrial Co., Ltd. researches and manufactures the agricultural biotechnology product "Tripterygium+" extract - a botanical-origin bio-pesticide protected by China's independent intellectual property rights. Processed from the natural plant Tripterygium wilfordii using advanced technologies, this product features high efficacy, low toxicity and environmental friendliness, effectively preventing crop diseases, pests and rodents while reducing grain loss. With China's ongoing ecological civilization advancement, the company has conducted nationwide training and demonstration programs in farmlands, forests, grasslands and public health sectors, promoting green prevention techniques using "Tripterygium+" extract. These efforts help farmers scientifically apply botanical pesticides, comprehensively improve pest control effectiveness, and progressively prevent agricultural non-point source pollution, achieving remarkable results.
The product development has gone through three key phases:
Phase 1: Initial Development
The product development commenced in 2001 and obtained pesticide trial approval from the Ministry of Agriculture in April 2003 under the name "Tripterygium Glycosides Rodenticide" (Trial Registration No.: SY20031123). This innovative product was developed based on our company's pharmaceutical-grade Tripterygium Glycosides (originally for human medicine), representing the world's first application of this compound in rodent control. Initially targeting international markets, the product gained popularity due to its dual-action mechanism combining anti-fertility effects and lethal rodenticidal properties for population density reduction, along with its eco-friendly characteristics. Considering the emphasis on genetics in developed countries, the provisional commercial name was designated as "BIAO Male Sterility Rodenticide".
Phase 2: Expansion and Optimization
Building upon the successful farmland trials in Phase 1, the product's testing was expanded to residential areas, forest zones and grasslands, demonstrating excellent efficacy through multiple rodent control effects including anti-fertility and lethality against both male and female rodents. In 2004, it obtained provisional pesticide registration from the Ministry of Agriculture under the technical name "Tripterygium Lactone" (Provisional Registration No.: LS20051278) with the commercial name "BIAO Anti-Fertility Rodenticide".
Phase 3: Industrialization and Standardization
Building upon the significant achievements and provisional pesticide registration obtained in the first two phases, the product underwent continuous R&D refinement. Through advanced air-impact extraction technology, the active ingredient was processed into "Tripterygium+" extract (designated based on its most bioactive compound triptolide as both the naming reference and detection standard) and formulated bait products. The Tripterygium+ extract (triptolide granules) contains over 140 additional compounds besides the representative triptolide. Extensive field trials conducted in farmlands, forests, grasslands and indoor environments demonstrated excellent efficacy. The optimized product achieves full utilization of Tripterygium's active components, delivering remarkable dual effects: short-term chronic lethality against various rodent pests and anti-fertility impacts on both male and female rodents. On January 8, 2009, it obtained national formal pesticide registration (PD20090004) with comprehensive application approval for farmlands, forests, grasslands and indoor use. In 2009, it was officially named by the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals and Pesticide Standards Committee as: Technical name - Tripterygium+ Extract (Triptolide Rodenticide); Trade name - BIAO Biological (Botanical-origin) Rodenticide.
Phase 4: Innovative Development
Under the new development paradigm emphasizing green, high-quality growth and enhanced new quality productive forces, the company has intensified innovation-driven development. Building upon its existing bioproduct foundation, it is accelerating the groundbreaking global application of "Tripterygium+" extracts in novel drug development, including hygiene-grade and other non-chemical biocides for pest control, as well as bio-health products. The company is boosting investment to establish a "Tripterygium+"-themed industrial chain and construct a "Tripterygium+" biotech industrial base, which upon completion will achieve a leading position in biotechnology with promising prospects, generating substantial economic, social and environmental benefits.
